Save your data with ForeverSave

ForeverSave Lite

ForeverSave Lite

Your data is important.  You don’t spend all that time writing, just to lose the lot of it when Pages or Photoshop crashes.  The other day this happened to a friends, which inspired me to find a solution to this problem.

Here, I present ForeverSave.  ForeverSave is a simple utility that automatically saves your file for you every now and then.

It is a highly configurable piece of shareware, It allows you to choose what programs it works with and what programs it does not, meaning that if you don’t want it to autosave something it won’t.

Using ForeverSave Lite

The ForeverSave interface is very simple.  As with other Apple-inspired interface design it has a simple time-machine style on/off switch and an easy way of adding and removing applications.

Recover Your Music with Expod

Expod

Expod

There are times when, you, like me have probably got a new computer or deleted an album off your computer and you wish you could just copy all your music back off your iPod.  Here I present Expod.

So, what is Expod? Expod is a small and free utility that you can download and install to your computer that does the reverse of iTunes.  With iTunes you can put music on your iPod and with Expod you can extract music from your iPod.

Sounds useful, huh?

How Does it Work?

On an iPod the music is stored in hidden folders, stored in folders with names like “F11”.  Within these folders is the music, also with a encoded name.  Why this is the case, I am not sure but Apple have also spilt up albums and artists and put them in all sorts of random folders.

Expod works by reading the database on your iPod and displaying the information for all your music in a window, this means you can then select what music your want to extract from your iPod and extract it onto your computer, allowing Expod to name it appropriately for you on the go.

How to Automate Your Mac’s Sleep Cycle

Automating the sleep cycle of your Mac can be useful for many things, but first, let me explain what I mean by automating it’s sleep cycle.  With the right know-how you can make you mac automaticly turn itself on and off.  Thats right, you can make it shut it’s self down, boot it’s self up or go into sleep.  On top of this you can set a time, you can set a day.  You can choose weekdays or weekend only.

What does this mean?  Your mac will be ready when you are.  Regardless of weather you have pressed the button or not.

For those who use MacBook’s please note that this will only work when it is connected to the mains, otherwise it might turn on it your bag.
