Remember Snowtape? I reviewed version 1 a while ago, where I was very impressed with the ease of manipulating your internet radio feeds, recording internet radio, and exporting it to iTunes.
Well, the developers at Vemedio have come up with a new version, and it’s got more functionality and is better looking than the old one! Introducing Snowtape 2.
Snowtape ReCap
Let’s quickly remind ourselves of what Snowtape does. Snowtape is basically your all-in-one solution to organising, listening to, and recording internet radio. It features an online directory for discovering new radio stations, the ability to favourite stations that you listen to often, and some easy to use editing features to quickly get your music out of snowtape, and into iTunes.
What’s new?
Simultaneous Recording
With Snowtape 2, you can record up to 3 stations at once. This is really useful for if several people in your house want to record something at the same time, or if you simply want to record loads of music to export to iTunes!
You can even listen to a 4th station while recording another three. And of course, you can flip between any of your recording stations, without interrupting the recording at all.
In fact, you can even hit ‘pause’ while recording without interrupting it. The recording carries on in the background, showing it’s elapsed time in the bottom left of the window.
Recording Schedules
Have a favourite show on the radio that you want to record? Snowtape makes doing this dead easy with recording schedules.
Select a station, then hit ⌘-N to bring up the Recording schedule window. Fill in your criteria and hit ‘Ok’. That’s all there is to it!
You can customise the schedule for daily, weekly, or one off shows that you want to record.
Streamlined Editor
The song editor has been streamlined to work without you needing to think. Simply pause the track at the start or end of the song, then snap the start and end markers into place. Simple, easy, effective.
The editor also has built in Album art searching, making it easy to find the correct album artwork, even before you export to iTunes. When you are ready to export, simply press the arrow button, and it hops over almost instantly!
That’s not all!
As well as this, Snowtape 2 has the option to create lineups of stations, playlists of songs, or smart versions of each. You can easily, for example, set up a playlist to play all of the Jazz music you recorded yesterday.
Snowtape 2 also features Last.fm scrobbling, and streaming to AirPort express or Apple TV.
Conclusion
Snowtape 2 is an excellent way to enjoy your internet radio form your Mac. It’s simple, yet powerful software that provides enough features for you to do what you want to do, but without getting in your way.
Snowtape 2 is available for just £20. If you already have Snowtape 1, you can upgrade, and get all of these new features for only £10 with an in-app purchase.
