When I first bought my Magic Mouse, I spent some time in the online apple store, looking at all of the reviews and FAQs, which mostly consisted of idiots asking the same question over and over again. One question did, however, catch my eye:
Can you use the multi-touch mouse as a trackpad?
I thought this was quite an interesting idea. The mouse has a full multitouch surface, so you would think that it would be possible to integrate this function…
“If you’ve had a brilliant idea, chances are someone else has already had it and is working on it.”
Sure enough, when the latest version of MagicPrefs came out, it had this feature, and they haven’t done a bad job of it!
“Finger Pointer”, as it’s called, can be toggled using any gesture supported by MagicPrefs. (there are a lot to choose from!)
Performing your selected gesture displays a notification that Finger Pointer is enabled and makes the top surface immediately sensitive to finger tracking. It isn’t quite a sensitive as the laser tracking, but is a nice little feature that could potentially be useful in many circumstances!
