ForeverSave Lite

ForeverSave Lite

Your data is important.  You don’t spend all that time writing, just to lose the lot of it when Pages or Photoshop crashes.  The other day this happened to a friends, which inspired me to find a solution to this problem.

Here, I present ForeverSave.  ForeverSave is a simple utility that automatically saves your file for you every now and then.

It is a highly configurable piece of shareware, It allows you to choose what programs it works with and what programs it does not, meaning that if you don’t want it to autosave something it won’t.

Using ForeverSave Lite

The ForeverSave interface is very simple.  As with other Apple-inspired interface design it has a simple time-machine style on/off switch and an easy way of adding and removing applications.

ForeverSave Home Screen

To begin all you have to do is click the little plus (+) symbol at the bottom of the window.  Once you have done this you will be presented with the following screen.

Select Application

Select Application

Within this window select the application that you would like ForeverSave to work with, then click “Open”.

Set-up Wizard Begins

Next, the set-up wizard will launch.  Simply read through the panel and then click “Continue”.

When to save?

When to save?

ForeverSave now needs to know when to save your data.  Choose weather or not you want ForeverSave to save every time you switch to another application.

Timer Save?

Timer Save?

Now, you can select weather or not ForeverSave should save after a certain amount of time, even if you are using the application.

Should I skip that one?

Should I skip that one?

ForeverSave will now present the option to skip  folders from the Autosave process, so if your work is saved within one ForeverSave will ignore those files.

But, it not saved?

But, it not saved?

If the file has not already been saved ForeverSave will give you some options of how it should react.

Thats It!

Thats It!

Thats all their really is to it.  Now all you have to do is repeat this process for each application you want to use it’s autosave features with.

Conclusion

All in all I think ForeverSave is a pretty smart pice of software, and a vital application for any Mac user, at least until these features are implemented within iWorks anyhow.  From my experience with it so far it work seamlessly, so why not give it a go.  It is free after all.
